The Council for Excellence in Government has launched a critical new initiative - Homeland Security from the Citizens' Perspective. This undertaking is engaging and connecting citizens, first responders, volunteer and civic organizations, businesses, government officials at federal, state, and local levels, and representatives of academia to focus on citizens' concerns and expectations to develop recommendations for action by the key players in the U.S. homeland security enterprise.

The Council is conducting a series of town halls in several locations across the country to understand and map citizens' concerns and to engage local and state leaders regarding the protection and safety of our communities and the nation

The Council is convening working groups with key representatives from business, academia, civic organizations, and government to help develop integrated enterprise-wide recommendations, guided by public input from the town halls.
